One of the challenges we face as a school is how to translate our traditional in-class learning methodology into one that can be adapted for online learning instead.
This is indeed uncharted territory for Jafaria School, as we are faced with an unprecedented challenge.
3 Different Approaches To Online Learning At Jafaria School
Video Conferencing:
A select number of classes will be piloting the use of Google Hangouts Meet in order to conduct live online classes, during regular school hours.
You will be notified by email this weekend if your class will be meeting for a live session online.
- Tarbiya Classes will meet online at 10:30am.
- Quran Classes will meet online at 11:50am.
The sessions will be conducted live using Google Hangouts Meet video conferencing. This may involve the use of web cameras, at each teachers' discretion. This will be accompanied by homework, to be completed during the week, and submitted back to the teacher.
Prerecorded Lectures:
Some teachers may be prerecording themselves giving lectures, instructions, or even reading stories to the students, which will be accompanied by homework to be completed during the week, and submitted back to the teacher.
Independent Study:
Some teachers may rely entirely on independent study. Teachers will assign reading and homework, to be completed independently by each student, and which must be completed during the week, and submitted back to the teacher.
Which Approach Will My Teachers Be Taking?
You will be receiving communications from your teacher this weekend, prior to Sunday morning, directing you accordingly.
If your class will be meeting online, you will receive instructions how to connect, and at what date and what time.
Parental Supervision
In all 3 scenarios above, we request that parents be present to supervise their children- especially those children who are participating in live online interactive class sessions, to ensure that they are attentive and maintaining proper respect and discipline for the virtual classroom environment.
