Shoes For Syrian Refugee Children

Jafaria School is collecting shoes for Syrian refugee children who are in need. We will be delivering the shoes to local refugee families in the New Jersey area.

Shoe collection criteria:

  • Shoes must be new or as good as new.
  • Shoes are for children up to the age of 13.
  • All pairs of shoes must be in tied-up bags.

There will be a collection box in the main foyer at Masjid-e-Ali on Sunday March 5th.

Fiqh Trimester Begins

With the successful History Fair last week, the History trimester has come to a close. Final grades for the History trimester should now be available in EngradePro.

If you log onto EngradePro but do not see your students' grades posted, be sure to contact your teacher as soon as possible, to address the issue.

The Fiqh trimester officially begins on Sunday January 29th.

History Trimester Ends – Final Grades Posted

The History Trimester has now ended, having culminated with the History Fair which was held last week.

Congratulations to all students and teachers who worked hard on making the History Fair a success!  A special congratulations is also in order, for all the parents who encouraged their children to work on their History Fair projects.

Parents should now be able to log onto EngradePro.com to view your students' final grades for the History Trimester. (If you do not see your students' final grades, please contact your teacher.)

Modified Schedule On Sunday January 22nd

We will be following a modified schedule on the date of the History Fair, Sunday January 22nd:

 

 

*NOTE: This schedule change applies to Sunday January 22nd ONLY. We will resume our normal schedule from Sunday January 29th onwards thereafter.

 

History Fair – The Life Of Prophet Muhammad (SAW)

The annual Jafaria School History Fair will take place on Sunday January 22nd, 2017 during the 2nd period, from 12:50pm to 2pm.

This year's theme for the History Fair will be: The Life Of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

All parents and family members are invited to attend the History Fair and view the projects put together by all of our students.

Modified School Schedule:

School will be operating on normal school hours on the day of the History Fair. However, the schedule will be modified as follows:

10:30am to 11:40am - 1st Period: Quran Class
11:40am to 12:50pm - Lunch / Salaat / Lecture
12:50pm to 2:00pm - 2nd Period: History Fair (Students convene with their syllabus teachers in the Mens Hall)

 

Lunchtime Celebration In Honor Of Our Sixth Imam – Imam Jafar-e-Sadiq (AS)

In honor of the birthday of our 6th Imam, Imam Jafar-e-Sadiq (AS), Jafaria School will hold a special celebration during the lunch and salaat period, on Sunday December 18th, 2016.

There will be a Q&A trivia contest during the celebration.

Students are encouraged to come to school prepared with general knowledge about the life of our 6 that students should come prepared with as knowledge as possible about the life of the Imam.

Prizes will be given!

The Wall Of Kindness

The Wall of Kindness  has been set up in the main foyer at Masjid-e-Ali.

Food Drive:

The PreK, Kindergarten, and 1st grade classes are collecting non-perishable canned or boxed food items, for the Food Drive.

For example:
- Canned food
- Rice/ pasta
- Cookies/ sugar
- Lentils / cereals etc

All food items will be donated to the organization Muslims Against Hunger.

Clothing Drive:

The 2nd & 3rd grade classes are running a Winter Clothing Drive.

For example:

- Jackets
- Coats
- Scarves
- Gloves
- Hats etc

Please wash all clothes before donating.

Umoja Coin Drive Collection Results Are In!

umoja-coin-drive-2016The Umoja Coin Drive collection ended on Sunday November 13th, 2016. We are pleased to announce that our students collectively donated $894 in loose change, which is currently being transported to Karbala, and will be donated to orphans in Iraq.

May Allah(SWT) bless the efforts of all the parents who encouraged their children to participate in the spirit of charitable giving (sadaqah) to the poor and needy.

This is a very important lesson, that is a fundamental part of raising our children to be model citizens and contributing members of society, looking after the well-being of others.

Women’s Circle Meeting: Sunday December 11th @ 11AM

Monthly meetings of the Masjid-e-Ali Women's Circle are held during Jafaria School hours, once a month on Sundays from 11AM to 12PM.

This is an excellent opportunity for women of the community to get together to discuss various issues, to meet and greet, and to empower one other.

This event is open to all women of the community.

Umoja Coin Drive

Teach your children that giving to charity is as simple as collecting loose change. Jafaria School will be collecting loose change from students in each classroom, to be delivered to orphanages in Karbala during Arbaeen.

The deadline for coin collection drive is Sunday November 13th, 2016 during class.

Field Trip & School Closure Information

Grades 3 through 11 will be going on the field trip to The Steps Of Imam Husayn (AS) Exhibit at Bait ul Asr in Freehold, NJ on Sunday October 30th.

All parents who have signed up their children to take the bus from Jafaria School MUST arrive at Masjid-e-Ali at 10AM, for check-in.

Attendance will be taken. Each student will be issued a badge with their name and grade level, which must be worn on their person AT ALL TIMES during the trip.

Buses will depart from Masjid-e-Ali promptly at 10:30AM.

If you have not yet registered for the field trip, you may do so by sending an email to hyder.khan@jafariaschool.com.

However, the BUSES ARE NOW FULL. If you choose to register at the last minute, you will have to provide your own transportation to Bait ul Asr.

SCHOOL IS CLOSED FOR PREK THROUGH 2ND GRADES.

THERE WILL BE NO CLASSES HELD AT MASJID-E-ALI ON SUNDAY OCTOBER 30th, 2016.

If your 4th through 11th grader is going to be ABSENT and NOT participating in the field trip, parents are still expected to fill out the ABSENCE NOTIFICATION FORM, so that your teachers can be notified of their absence, and plan alternate homework assignments, accordingly.

Field Trip: The Steps Of Imam Husayn (AS) Exhibit

We are pleased to announce that Jafaria School is planning a field trip on Sunday October 30th, 2016, for students in 3rd through 11th grade syllabus classes.

Date: Sunday October 30th, 2016
Time: 10:00AM - 3:00PM
Venue: Bait ul Asr in Freehold, NJ

We will be visiting The Steps Of Imam Husayn(AS) Exhibit being held at Bait ul Asr in Freehold, NJ.

You should plan to drop off your children at school at 10:00AM to board the buses.

Buses will be departing from Jafaria School at 10:30AM sharp.

The expected time for the bus to return will be approximately 3PM.

Parents will be able to pick up their students from Jafaria School at 3PM.

THERE WILL BE NO CLASSES FOR STUDENTS IN Pre-K THROUGH 2ND GRADE ON THE DAY OF THE FIELD TRIP (SUNDAY OCTOBER 30th, 2016).

Bus Transportation Fees:

Jafaria School will be making arrangements for round-trip transportation for teachers and students to the field trip destination, by bus.

To help cover the cost of transportation, admission on the bus will cost a nominal fee of $10 per child.

Will lunch be provided?
Yes. Jafaria School will be providing lunch during the field trip.

Is there a fee for the field trip?
There is a nominal fee of \$ 10 per student to ride on the bus.
If you choose to drive your children directly to the field trip destination, there is no cost.
Lunch and exhibit admission are free.
Bus transportation is the only cost.

Can we drive directly to Bait ul Asr?
Yes. You may drive directly to the exhibit with your family if it is more convenient for you than riding the bus from Masjid-e-Ali.

Note:

I have younger siblings who are in PreK through 2nd grade. Can they attend?
This field trip is age-appropriate for 3rd through 11th grades.

Regular classes will be NOT in session for grades PreK through 2nd grade. 

Grades 3 through 11 will board the bus immediately.

There will be NO CLASSES FOR Grades PreK through 2nd.

Can parents board the bus?
Due to limited space, only teachers and administrators will accompany the students. If you wish to volunteer as a chaperone, please let us know....

What if I don't want to send my child on the field trip?
If you choose not to send your child on the field trip, or your child will be absent on that day, then their teacher may give them an alternate homework assignment, that will be due the following week, at their discretion.


 

Rules

1. All students will be given a name tag that identifies who they are and what grade they are in. This must be worn by the student at all times.
2. Students are required to stay with their teacher at all times.
3. Students are expected to maintain the same rules of respect, Islamic dress code, decorum, discipline and behavior at the field trip location (Bait ul Asr) as would be expected of them at Jafaria School. We will be there as their guests, and must therefore behave accordingly.
4. Students are required to follow the directions of the bus driver, the teachers, and the chaperones while on the bus.

Students who are eligible for participation on the field trip will have been emailed the link to the online registration form directly.
