** Graduation Ceremony and Celebration ** – Sunday May 14th @ 10AM Sharp

Jafaria School will be hosting its annual Graduation Ceremony and Celebration on Sunday May 14th, 2017.

All Jafaria School Parents, Family Members, and Friends Are Invited To Attend!

The program will be as follows:

10:00AM to 01:00PM - Graduation Ceremony
(Achievement Awards, Competition Winners, Presentations, Raffles, and more!)

01:00PM to 01:30PM - Salaat
01:30PM to 02:30PM - Lunch
02:30PM to 05:30PM - Celebration
(Pony Rides, Petting Zoo, Bouncy Castle, Children's playground & Video Game Truck, and more!)

Program starts promptly at 10AM, so please arrive early to ensure you get a good seat, and to get good parking. (Arrangements for shuttle service to overflow parking will be made, courtesy of Masjid-e-Ali.) Please note that this is half an hour earlier than our normal 10:30am start time.

The graduation ceremony will proceed, RAIN OR SHINE.

We will be celebrating your childrens' achievements in their Islamic education!

Come watch your children receive their awards and prizes!

Be sure to dress up for pictures, and for pomp and circumstance!

RAFFLE: Enter for your chance to win a free Apple iWatch or an Apple iPad.

In case of inclement weather, the indoor ceremony will still continue as scheduled. Certain outdoor activities may be canceled / delayed / rescheduled.

Proper Islamic dresscode must be observed at all times by all Jafaria School families during the entirety of the event.

Quran Textbook Returns – Grades 2 through 5

If your student is currently in 2nd grade through 5th grade Quran class this year, we are asking all students in these grades to please return their Quran textbooks on Sunday May 7th. They will be collected during the 1st period.

Please be sure that your student's full name and student ID* number is clearly written on the front cover or on the inside of the front cover.

Quran textbooks that are missing the student's name and student ID number will not be accepted, unless the book is in pristine condition.

Students will be reissued their same textbooks in September of 2017, at the beginning of the next school year.

Students who do not return their Quran textbooks before the end of this school year, will be required to hold onto them and bring them with them on the first day of school in September 2017, as they will be reusing the same textbook.

If a student loses their Quran textbook over the summer, they will have to purchase a replacement copy in September. The replacement fee is $20.

* (The student ID number is "JS" followed by 3  to 4 digits. eg) JS123 or JS1234. This can be found in the original registration confirmation email that had been sent to all parents at the time of registration at the beginning of the school year.)

 

Did You Forget To Submit Your Reading Logs? Library Reading Challenge Submission Deadline Sunday May 7th

The Library Reading Challenge is now officially over.

If you forgot to submit your reading logs last Sunday, the library staff will be accepting late submissions through Sunday May 7th at 2:30pm.

Please bring them to the library during school hours.

Collection bins for the forms will also be available at the main entrance.

Top Readers Will Earn Prizes

Contest Rules:

  1. Books must be checked out from the Masjid-e-Ali Library.
  2. After reading the books, they must be entered into the reading log (which will be provided to students in class), and a parent must sign.
  3. Books must be returned to the library on time, by the due date.
  4. The child / children with the most books read by the end of the contest will win prizes.
  5. Books must be checked out from the library, and be age-appropriate, otherwise the book will not be counted as part of the Reading Club.

School Spirit T-Shirt Designs: Last Chance! DEADLINE Sunday April 30th

The deadline to submit your school spirit T-shirt design is Sunday April 30th.

With our School Spirit T-Shirt Design Contest underway, you may find it helpful to review some of these video links, that guide you through some of the basics of how to use the site CustomInk.com to design your website. How to submit your design.



Jafaria School is holding a tee shirt design contest.

We are looking for creative designs that will showcase our school spirit.

The 2 best designs will be chosen and made into official school spirit T-shirts for Jafaria School.

Submissions are already coming in. Don't miss your chance to have your design become the new school spirit T-shirt.

Bowling – Mega Family Fun Night – Sunday April 23rd

Imam-a-Zamana Foundation of North America (Bait ul Asr) is hosting a Family Bowling Night at Knob Hill Country Lanes in Manalapan, NJ on Sunday April 23rd, 2017 from 5:30pm to 8:30pm.

All Jafaria School families have been invited to attend.

Parent Teacher Conferences: Second Round

The first round of Parent-Teacher Conferences were held back in December of 2016. Parents had been invited to come in and meet with the teachers.

The second round of Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held during the week of Sunday April 9th, 2017. This time around, the conferences will be held either by phone or by scheduling a private meeting with the teacher. (There will be no formal setup, as had been done during the December conferences.)

Teachers will be reaching out to all of the parents, to schedule conferences.

Child Pick-Up Safety Reminder

For safety reasons, children who are being supervised in the Mens Hall at dismissal time (2pm) MUST be SIGNED OUT by a parent.

Teachers are standing by the doors of the Mens Hall entrance, whom you must identify yourself and sign out with them before your children may be released.

Children who are being supervised in the Mens Hall at dismissal time may NOT be signed out by an elder sibling, or may not leave the building, unaccompanied.

Yearbook Consent Forms DEADLINE

The deadline to submit consent forms for your child to be included in the yearbook is Saturday April 1st, 2017 at 9PM ET.

If we have not received your consent by the deadline, we will assume that you DO give consent.

In order for your child to be photographed and included in the Jafaria School Yearbook, we will need parental permission.

All Jafaria School parents have been emailed a link to an online permission slip for each student. All you have to do is select "Yes" or "No" to indicate whether you give permission to Jafaria School to have pictures of your child included in the yearbook, which will be published this year.

Therefore it is imperative that you click on the link in the email to indicate your preference as soon as possible.

If we do not receive a response from you prior to your Class Picture Day (each class will be taking pictures during the month of April, based on coordination with each teacher), then we will assume that you consent to having your child's picture included in the yearbook.

Fiqh Trimester Exams

The fiqh trimester is nearing its end. Classes are now taking the fiqh final exam. All classes are expected to complete their fiqh trimester exams by Sunday April 2nd.

The 3rd, and final trimester of the school year will begin immediately thereafter, and will run through the end of the school year. The topic of the 3rd trimester is "Akhlaq / Aqaid"... which overs issues of morality, manners, and ethics.

4th Graders: Bake Sale Fundraiser To Benefit Lakota Wolf Preserve

The 4th grade class will be hosting a bake sale on Sunday March 26th. Proceeds of the bake sale will go to benefit the Lakota Wolf Preserve, located in Columbia, NJ.

The bake sale will be held immediately after school at 2pm. Parents and students are encouraged to stop by at the bake sale table in the lobby.

At Jafaria School, one of our goals is to instill the values of charitable giving, in our students.

Protection of Allah's creation - animals and the environment alike - is indeed a noble and worthy cause.

"Do you not see that Allah has made subservient to you whatsoever is in the earth" - Quran (22:65)

Quran Surah Competition: Winners To Be Announced At Graduation

The annual Quran Surah Competition was held earlier this month, and is now over.

Students were challenged to memorize this list of surahs.

Each class held its own competition. Students were judged according to 3 criteria:

  • Memorization of the surahs in Arabic.
  • Proper pronunciation of each surah in Arabic.
  • (Grades 3 and higher) - Proper explanation of the meaning / translation of Surah Fatiha, Surah Ikhlas, and at least one other surah from the list.

Winners of the Quran competition from each class will be announced during the graduation ceremony in May 2017.

Nowruz Commemoration

Monday March 20th coincides with Nowruz, which is not only the Spring Equinox (first day of spring) but also the first day of the Persian New Year.

In honor of Nowruz, there will be a display table set up in the main foyer, during Jafaria School hours on Sunday March 19th.
