Surah Name Contest:
Sunday April 15th
Are You Ready?

Jafaria School is hosting a Surah Name and Meaning Competition on Sunday April 15, 2018.

Can your student memorize the names of each surah of the Holy Quran in Arabic and in English, in the proper sequence?

For example:
Surah #1 - Surah Fatiha - The Opening
Surah #2 - Surah Baqara - The Cow
Surah #3 - Surah Aal-e-Imran - The Family of Imran
Quran teachers will be helping the students learn the surahs in class. However, we are counting on parents to help the students commit the information to memory and get ready for the challenge.
(This is a great opportunity for parents to learn with children too!)
Below is the rubric for how many Surahs each grade will be judged according to:
Grade 1 - Suras #1 - #10
Grade 2 - Suras #1 - #20
Grade 3 - Suras #1 - #30
Grade 4 - Suras #1 - #40
Grade 5 - Suras #1 - #50
Grade 6 and up - Suras #1 - #114
There are several resources that students can use to assist them with the competition.
  • All the Sura names, with translation and an image are listed in the back of your Qur’an textbook.
  • There is Sura memorization pneumonic (in the form of a story) also in the back of the Qur’an textbook.
  • Lastly, this video can also help insha’Allah.
Good luck to all parents and students!
