VERY IMPORTANT: Revised School Year Calendar

In an effort to adjust to the "new normal" of conducting Jafaria School as an online school, we have revised the school year calendar for the remaining weeks of the school year.

Being that we are not bound by a physical building at this time, we are allowing for the last day of class to fall on different dates for each class, depending on the individual pace of each class and their progress with the curriculum.

Please read carefully for a summary of the revised schedule:

Ramadan Schedule:

Previously, when classes were being held onsite, the decision had been to close the school for Ramadan Break and then reopen after Eid-ul-Fitr.

However, in light of our current circumstances, the decision has been made to continue operating the school through the first half of Ramadan, with the LAST DAY OF SCHOOL being Sunday May 10th, 2020.

Ramadan Timings:

Remote / Online Learning Sessions Begin on Sunday March 22nd, 2020

After a two-week hiatus, Jafaria School is now "reopening" on Sunday March 22nd, 2020 as a remote learning / online learning school. We will continue to operate in this fashion until the end of the school year or until Masjid-e-Ali reopens to the public, whichever comes first.

Following the example of the public schools and colleges across the state of the New Jersey, Jafaria School will be resuming its curriculum in a remote learning / online learning  mode. Classes will continue where they left off, and resume the unit of study or lesson where they had left off after their last session.

What does this mean?

This means that students are expected to read their textbooks, storybooks, continue working on their class presentations and projects, study for and take their tests and quizzes, and attend online classes, and submit their homework on a weekly basis.

THE MASJID-E-ALI BUILDING REMAINS CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. CLASSES ARE BEING HELD ONLINE ONLY. DO NOT COME TO MASJID-E-ALI.

(The date and times will align with what were the normal school hours on Sundays, between 10:30am and 1pm.)

School Hours

Sundays

Quran Class - 11:50AM to 01:00PM

A Special Note About Timings:

  • However, the class durations may vary, depending on the class.
  • Some classes may conclude within 20 minutes.
  • Some may conclude in 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 60 minutes.
  • It is subject to the pace at which the class is being conducted, the attentiveness of the students, and the amount of material to be covered.

Independent Study Class Timings:

If your class is being conducted entirely via independent study, then there is no set time for the class to meet. However, students will be expected to submit their homework assignments by the deadlines as specified by the teacher.

Your feedback is essential to help us plan in such a way so as to best cater to the needs of each class.

UPDATE 3/15/2020:
School Remains CLOSED

UPDATE 3/15/2020: Masjid-e-Ali remains CLOSED until further notice. Jafaria School is currently in the planning phase for implementing a Remote Learning / Online Learning plan, akin to that which is being enacted by other school districts in the state of New Jersey, in light of the current Corona Virus (COVID 19) outbreak.  This will allow for continuity of your child's Islamic education.

School will "REOPEN" for remote / online learning on Sunday 3/22/2020.

Out of an abundance of caution, in order to preempt the impending Corona Virus (COVID 19) outbreak, the management of Masjid-e-Ali has decided to temporarily SUSPEND all programs and CLOSE the masjid for a period of TWO WEEKS.

Therefore, Jafaria School will be CLOSED for a period of TWO WEEKS.

Jafaria School will be CLOSED on:
- Sunday March 8th, 2020
- Sunday March 15th, 2020

A subsequent announcement will be made as to the reopening of the school thereafter.

Lesson Plans & Homework Assignments

In order to maintain continuity of your child's education, teachers may, at their discretion, contact you with lesson plans and homework assignments, to be completed at home during this period.
